Sindh govt decides not to close markets before Eidul Azha
The Government of Sindh has decided against closing markets and shopping centres before Eidul Azha, provincial information minister said in a statement on Wednesday.

The government will not further tighten the lockdown, Minister for Information Nasir Hussain Shah has said.

It is to be mentioned here that the Punjab government on Monday announced to enforce a “smart lockdown” in the province from midnight till August 5 to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic on the occasion of Eidul Azha.

Sindh’s minister said that tightening lockdown in Punjab is the decision of the provincial government. Sindh will maintain existing measures for lockdown in the province.

The markets and shopping centres will continue to remain open till 7:00 in the evening before Eidul Azha, the minister said.

“We will ensure enforcement of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),” Nasir Shah further said.

Earlier, Sindh Minister for Auqaf and Irrigation, Suhail Anwar Siyal, said that all shrines in the province, including Hazrat Qalandar-Lal-Shahbaz, will be opened for public with standard operating procedures (SOPs) after Eid-ul-Azha.

He said this while talking to media at Sehwan on Wednesday.

The government of Sindh had earlier decided to reopen the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalander for visitors under Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The shrine was closed on March 14 by the provincial government to halt the spread of deadly coronavirus.

It is to be noted that here that annual urs of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, scheduled to take place at the shrine in Sehwan Sharif from April 12 was also canceled.

The DC had said that it was estimated that 1.2 million visits the Sehwan city of annual urs celebrations of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar hence it would be danger for devotees to gather at Sehwan due to outbreak of coronavirus.

Special Assistant on Youth Affairs Usman Dar says Tiger Force volunteers will fully participate in tree plantation campaign on Tiger Force Day to be observed on ninth of the next month.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said the Tiger Force volunteers will plant one million saplings across the country on that day.

The Special Assistant said the forest department will identify the sites of tree plantation, and the Tiger Force volunteers in collaboration with the district administration will plant the saplings.

He said a Tiger Force App has been launched to empower the Tiger Force.

The Special Assistant said one million youth have been registered under Tiger Force, and the government has so far benefited from three hundred thousand volunteers. He said these volunteers have played an important role during the Coronavirus crisis.

He said the services of Tiger Force are being lauded at international level.

He urged Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to benefit from the services of Tiger Force.

Minister for Power Division Omar Ayub Khan says the government is taking various initiatives for development in energy sector.

Addressing the launching ceremony of Pakistan's First Electric Charging Station in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said it is a welcoming initiative and an important step towards Clean and Green Pakistan.

Omar Ayub Khan said twenty four electric stations will be set up in future, which will help common people of the country. He said the government is taking solid steps to control environmental pollution.

Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant on Petroleum Nadeem Babar said opening of a charging station in Islamabad will help encourage electric vehicles as future transportation in the country.

He said this initiative is a welcoming move for the country, which will soon witness electric vehicles running on roads.

The special assistant said it will also help the Prime Minister campaign of Clean and Green Pakistan.

A soldier, Lance Naik of the Pakistan Army was martyred after terrorists opened fire from across the Afghanistan border at a security post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The army’s media wing, in a statement, said that Lance Naik Sami Ullah embraced martyrdom after the terrorists opened fire at the security forces border post.

Earlier on June 21, Pakistan Army captain and a soldier had embraced martyrdom and two others were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire at the convoy of security forces in North Waziristan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to ISPR, Pak Army captain and soldier was martyred while two soldiers were also injured during the exchange of fire with terrorists in North Waziristan.

One terrorist was also killed in retaliation, the military’s media wing said. The martyred soldiers had been identified as Captain Sabih and Sepoy Naveed.

Zardari, Faryal ’s indictment in two NAB references deferred again

An Accountability Court on Wednesday deferred indictment of former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur in money laundering and Pink Residency references.

The court put off proceedings of indictment in NAB references till August 07 due to absence of former president’s counsel Farooque H. Naik.

It is to be mentioned here that the court had earlier fixed July 29 for indictment of Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur in money laundering and Pink Residency references.

An assistance counsel appeared on behalf of Naik and sought a date of hearing after August 05. He informed the court that Farooque Naik could not appear in court due to the Senate session in Muzaffarabad scheduled on August 05.

The court also approved a petition of Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur seeking exemption from appearing in the case proceedings.

Judge Azam Khan of the accountability court said that the accused have to appear in court regularly after indictment and opening of the trial.

He adjourned hearing of the case till August 07.

Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur and other accused face charges of graft in money laundering in Pink Residency and other references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
