Ashura being observed with due solemnity

Ashura
Youm-e-Ashur is being observed today across the country with due solemnity to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his devoted companions in Karbala.

The mourning processions are being taken out in all the cities and towns of the country as Muslims are performing mourning rituals to mark the Ashura.

Strict security measures have been ensured by the local management of different cities and some road closures were also in place to avoid any untoward incident.

In Lahore, the main mourning procession took out from Nisar Haveli of the Walled City to the Karbala Gamay Shah.

15 children martyred by merciless Israeli strikes
Since 2008, Israel has waged four wars on the Palestinian territory, killing nearly 4,000 people – one-quarter of them children.

According to data compiled by Defense for Children International, at least 2,200 children have been killed by the Israeli military and Israeli settlers across the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 2000 – the beginning of the second intifada.

Here are the names and faces of the 15 children aged 18 and under killed by Israeli air strikes over the past three days:

Netizens hail boy for intelligently foiling dacoity bid  

Netizens hail boy
The video of a boy throwing his cycle at a man on a motorcycle has gone viral on social media.

Twitter users are saying the boy was trying to stop the man who was fleeing on a stolen motorcycle. It is being reported that the incident took place in Fatepura, Gujarat.

It is, however, unclear whether the video is recent or not.

In the footage going viral on social media, it can be seen that the boy stops his cycle in a narrow lane, gets off and spins it at the man in question who was riding a stolen motorcycle. The man collided with the boys cycle, lost his balance and fell.

After the man fell, he could be seen quickly getting up and sprinting away, leaving the motorcycle behind.

Pakistan reports 628 new COVID-19 cases, 3 more deaths

COVID-19
Pakistan has reported 3 deaths in the last 24 hours by coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,559,929. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 30,508 on Monday.

According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 628 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan has conducted 19,451 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 628 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 3.23 percent.

2,200 ICP cops to guard 9th Muharram procession

2,200 police officials will perform duty during the Muharram 9 procession in the capital.

An emergency has been imposed in all hospitals of Islamabad.

Islamabad Capital Police (ICP) Inspector General Dr Akbar Nasir Khan reviewed security arrangements in connection with 9th Muharramul Harram and decided to enhance vigilance and patrolling in various areas for foolproof security during procession and Majalis. As many 2,200 policemen of Islamabad capital police will be deployed for maintaining peace and tranquility on 9th Muharram.

According to a statement, Mr Khan asked officials to ensure that processions pass through fixed routes at specified times. Close coordination must be maintained among all wings of Islamabad police and staff. The IGP said that walk through gates must be installed at all entry and exit points of ma jalis and processions.

Patrolling officers must conduct visits to all the routes of processions whereas police officials must be present on the rooftops of all imam bargahs. The IGP said that female police officers should be deputed for female gatherings. He further directed SSP (Traffic) to issue an alternate traffic plan, adding that it should be ensured that parking lots are far away from imam bargahs.

Strict vigilance should be maintained to ensure that security measures are in place by the police and standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government are being followed, the IGP said, adding that the bomb disposal squad would conduct checking of routes through robots and modern technology while entry of participants in the procession would be ensured after complete checking.
