PM, Hina Rabbani discuss Pakistan's foreign affairs
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ms Hina Rabbani Khar called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.

According to details, the meeting was held at the Prime Minister Office during which views were exchanged about the country’s foreign affairs particularly regional diplomacy.

Hina Rabbani Khar briefed the Prime Minister about Pakistan’s participation in the recently held Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali, Rwanda.

6 killed, and 20 wounded in rain-related incidents in Quetta
 At least six people were killed and 20 other were wounded in rain-related incidents in different parts of Balochistan including the provincial capital Quetta on Monday.

The torrential rains played havoc provincial capital where six persons, including three women, died as roofs and walls of several houses collapsed in Sariab area of Quetta. Several localities of the provincial capital are also without electricity while roads were submerged under rainwater.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Shehk Baloch and Administrator Municipal Corporation Quetta (MCQ) Abdul Jabbar Baloch were monitoring the relief activities.

After the incident, Director General of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Naseer Nasir said on special directive of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and adviser to CM on Home Ziaullah Langu, rescue team along with relief goods for 50 families were sent to rain affected area of Link Cross Badeni, Sariab and other area to ensure helping of the victims in the area.

Pakistan reports 653 covid cases in 24 hours
Pakistan has reported no death in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has risen to 1,539,275. The nationwide tally of fatalities stands at 30,403 on Tuesday.

According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 653 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan has conducted 18,950 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 653 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 3.45 percent.

Ex-minister Babar Ghauri arrested from Karachi Airport

Former federal minister Babar Khan Ghauri
Former federal minister Babar Khan Ghauri was arrested from the Jinnah International Airport in the port city on Monday, after he returned to Pakistan.

The police arrested Ghauri after it was alerted about his return to the country.

The police said they arrested the former federal minister as corruption and terrorism cases have been registered against him. The former minister was taken into custody as soon as he landed at the Karachi Airport at 10pm.

According to police sources, cases have been registered against Ghauri in the Karachi's Districts Central and West. He has been detained at a police station in Malir district for now and will be presented in court tomorrow.

The investigation departments of different districts of Karachi have been directed to bring the details of the cases against him.

Sources privy to the matter said that Ghauri was residing in Dubai for the past month and had bought tickets to return to Pakistan a week ago, however, his visit was abruptly postponed.
