Indian COAS' claim on LOC ceasefire negotiation misleading: DG ISPR
Director General ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar has categorically rejected as misleading the Indian Chief of Army Staff’s claim that LOC ceasefire is holding because they negotiated from position of strength.

In a post on social-networking website Twitter today (Friday), the DG said it was agreed only due to Pakistan’s concerns for safety of people of Kashmir living on both sides of the Line of Control.

Pakistan has reported 48 more deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,448,640. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,420 on Friday.

Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling action declared illegal
Pakistani pacer Mohammad Hasnain has been suspended from bowling after being found to have an illegal bowling action, Cricket Australia (CA) said in a statement Friday.

Hasnain was reported by umpire Gerard Abood after bowling in the KFC Big Bash League match between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers at Sydney Showground Stadium on January 2.

As per the Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Procedures, Hasnain was due to be tested at Cricket Australia’s ICC-approved facility in Brisbane within the mandated 14-day timeframe and before his departure from Australia
However, after he and others were recalled early by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), it was agreed he would conduct his test at the PCB’s approved facility in Lahore, with results provided to Cricket Australia for independent review and verification.

“This process has been completed, with Hasnain’s action found to be illegal by the PCB’s testing laboratory and the report reviewed and verified by CA’s independent expert,” the CA said.

Hasnain is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the Quetta Gladiators. He was dropped from the playing Xi last night, minutes before the match was scheduled to start

4 soldiers martyred,15 terrorists killed in Panjgur and Naushki: Interior minister
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid on Thursday has told that nine terrorists in Naushki whereas six terrorists have been killed in Panjgur.

In a statement, the minister deplored the terrorist attacks on the camp of security forces in Naushki and Panjgur and said that four security personnel have also embraced martyrdom in retaliation. We salute the brave officers over repulsing the attacks, he expressed.

Sheikh Rashid said that our security forces are well trained to foil any kind of terrorist attack.

Earlier, security forces had successfully repulsed terrorist attacks at military camps in Panjgur and Noshki districts of Balochistan, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

ISPR said that terrorists attempted to attack security forces camps at two locations, Panjgur and Noshki, in Balochistan late Wednesday evening. Both attacks were successfully repulsed while inflicting heavy casualties to terrorists.

The ISPR statement said that in Panjgur, terrorists tried to enter security forces camp from two locations. However, timely response by troops foiled terrorist attempt.

During intense exchange of fire one soldier has been martyred. Terrorists have fled while their casualties are being ascertained, the ISPR statement read.

“In Noshki, the terrorists attempted to enter an FC camp which was promptly responded,” it said, adding that four terrorists have been killed while one officer has been injured during the shootout, the ISPR added.

Pakistan has reported 42 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 1,442,263. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,372 on Thursday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 5,830 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 13,201 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,849 in Sindh 6,023 in KP, 982 in Islamabad, 760 in Azad Kashmir, 368 in Balochistan, and 189 in GB.
