Peshawar High Court ordered PTA to ban immoral content on TikTok

The Peshawar High Court on Saturday has issued a written order to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to ban immoral content shared on the famous lip-syncing application TikTok.

According to the report presented by PTA, it has blocked 28.9 million videos from the app, while 1.4 million accounts are blocked for sharing immoral content.

The written order also stated that the young generation is "being inspired by immoral content shared on TikTok," adding that people who share immoral content are prosecuted but not punished which allows them to continue spreading such content.

“PTA should make procedures to block the accounts of repeated violators,” said the written order. 

The PTA has blocked and restored the app several times during the last year on similar charges.

Govt is taking steps to resolve issues faced by Karachi citizens: Asad Umar

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Saturday has said that the PTI-led government is taking steps to resolve the issues faced by Karachi citizens.

While addressing a function of the restoration of Karachi’s Cooperative Market where hundreds of shops were destroyed in a fire, the minister said that “Karachi didn’t have any modern transport system, but owing to PTI, people of Karachi can now travel through Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system".

Praising the federal government for its efforts to resolve Karachi issues, Umar said that the government believes in public service, adding that Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) has approved the transaction structure of the Karachi Circular Railway.

The minister also said: “The next meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) will approve the KCR, after which its construction will be started.”

During the function, Umar also assured that the issue of water in Karachi will be resolved as the government is working on it. “Karachi will be provided with water after the completion of the K-IV water project in 2023,” he added.

CM ordered arrest of policemen involved in escape of criminal accused of kidnapping Dua Mangi

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered the arrest of policemen involved in the escape of a convicted criminal who was also accused of kidnapping Dua Mangi.

According to a statement issued by the CM house, the accused, identified as Zohaib Ali, fled from police custody. After learning about the incident, CM Shah has directed the inspector-general (IG) of police to lock up the concerned policemen and constitute a high-profile police party to arrest the accused.

The chief minister was told that Zohaib, along with four others accused, was brought before the court of Judicial Magistrate VII East on January 27, 2022, in a case registered by the Ferozabad police. The accused had received the next date of hearing and was escorted back to the jail by the head constable, Naveed, and constable Zafar Habib.

The report said that in connivance with Naveed, the accused used a private car to buy shoes from Tariq road and escaped from there due to the negligence of the head constable.

It may be noted that accused Zohaib is convicted in a case, bearing FIR No 207/18, u/s 392/34 PPC, and has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of three years with a fine of Rs20,000.

He is being tried in nine other cases, including the Dua Mangi kidnapping case of December 2019.

The police, on the instructions of the chief minister, have registered a case of Zohaib Qureshi’s escape from police custody (FIR No. 48/2022), and quarter guarded/locked up HC Naveed and constable Zafar Habib and placed the services of SP Court Police, Azam Durani, under suspension.

On the directives of the chief minister, a police party — comprising DIG East and policemen of CIA — has been constituted to comb out Zohaib to bring him to the book.

Senate approves SBP Amendment Bill
The Upper House of the Parliament, Senate on Friday has approved the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill.The Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani presided over the meeting.

Earlier in the day, the government delayed the process of tabling the bill due to less representation in the session and sought more time, sparking the protest from the opposition members who chanted slogans and demanded to immediately present the bill.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani asked that the State Bank bill was listed in the agenda then why was the government not presenting it. He further said that the government was eager to present this bill in the Senate, now no one is ready to even talk about it.

As the session started, the chairman reprimanded the members over not wearing face masks as the cases of the coronavirus have increased again. He also ordered the administration to provide the masks to everyone.

Later, the House offered fateha for the soldiers, who were martyred in a terrorist attack on a security forces’ check post in Balochistan’s Kech district.

Senator Mushtaq Ahmad led the prayer.

 Speaking to media during his visit to Rakh Jhok forest, the prime minister said this time, the case would be presented in a better manner to apprise the Honourable Court about the significance of the project in view of urban development and civic facilities.

The prime minister said there was a misconception about the Ravi Urban project that it was a housing society. Instead, he said, the grand project aimed at correcting the faults in the wake of unplanned construction of the city.

Corona virus: Pakistan reports highest number of single-day cases
Pakistan has reported 8,183 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the highest number of cases in a single day since the coronavirus pandemic started in 2020.

Pakistan has reported 30 more deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,402,070. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,192.

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 8,183 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
