Senate approves SBP Amendment Bill
The Upper House of the Parliament, Senate on Friday has approved the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill.The Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani presided over the meeting.

Earlier in the day, the government delayed the process of tabling the bill due to less representation in the session and sought more time, sparking the protest from the opposition members who chanted slogans and demanded to immediately present the bill.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani asked that the State Bank bill was listed in the agenda then why was the government not presenting it. He further said that the government was eager to present this bill in the Senate, now no one is ready to even talk about it.

As the session started, the chairman reprimanded the members over not wearing face masks as the cases of the coronavirus have increased again. He also ordered the administration to provide the masks to everyone.

Later, the House offered fateha for the soldiers, who were martyred in a terrorist attack on a security forces’ check post in Balochistan’s Kech district.

Senator Mushtaq Ahmad led the prayer.

Corona virus: Pakistan reports highest number of single-day cases
Pakistan has reported 8,183 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the highest number of cases in a single day since the coronavirus pandemic started in 2020.

Pakistan has reported 30 more deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,402,070. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,192.

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 8,183 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Terrorists martyr 10 soldiers in Balochistan
As many as 10 soldiers were martyred after terrorists opened fire at a security check post in Balochistan's Kech district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

In a statement, the military's media wing said the incident took place on the night between January 25 and 26, where one terrorist was killed and several others sustained injuries.

The security forces have apprehended three terrorists in follow up clearance operation, while they were still on the hunt for the perpetrators behind the incident.

"Armed forces are determined to eliminate terrorists from our soil no matter what the cost," the statement added.

Country cannot progress without supremacy of law: PM Imran
Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday said that a country cannot progress without the supremacy of law.

Addressing an inaugural ceremony of Criminal Law and Justice Reforms in Islamabad, the prime minister said that the system of judiciary and law given by the English became obsolete and the judicial system of Pakistan became weak gradually.

He also said that this was the reason why Pakistan was divided two different systems, one for the powerful and another for the poor. It is responsibility of the state to provide equal education and justice to the people of the country, he added.

PM said that the only purpose for bringing these reforms is to provide justice to the common man.

PML N demands to make all record of foreign funding case public
Spokesperson Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Marriyum Aurangzeb on Thursday has demanded to bring forward all the record of foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

In a statement, the PML-N spokesperson said that showing the donors of Shaukat Khanam Hospital as PTI donors in scrutiny committee report is a ‘horrible revelation’.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has committed a crime by using charity trust for political purposes, she added.

Marriyum Aurangzeb further demanded Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hear foreign funding case on daily basis and live telecast its proceedings.

Earlier, the PML-N leader said that Imran Khan knows that time of his ouster is approaching.

Addressing media persons, Marriyum said that Imran Khan cannot escape his inevitable accountability by the people of Pakistan who have suffered during his term.

Responding to PM Imran’s statement that he will be more dangerous if he is not in power, the PML-N leader said, "Imran Khan’s threats of protests do not have any value. Imran Khan will find no one along his side as soon as he is removed from the position."

Marriyum further said that how Imran Khan can call Shehbaz Sharif a criminal because criminal is a person who is involved in sugar and flour theft.
