Israeli forces have been searching for six Palestinian prisoners who managed to escape from a high-security facility in northern Israel early on Monday. The prisoners escaped from the Gilboa prison, which is supposed to be one of Israel’s most secured facilities. Such breakouts are extremely rare.“Overnight, we received a number of reports about suspicious figures in agricultural fields and from the prison service, which discovered very quickly that prisoners were missing from their cells and that six escaped,” police spokesman Eli Levy told Israeli Kan Radio. Sindh seeks making vaccination certificates mandatory for banking services

vaccination certificates mandatory for banking services
The Sindh health department on Sunday wrote a letter to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), seeking to make vaccination certificates mandatory for people to continue enjoying banking and post office services.

The health department has requested the NCOC to direct bankers and post office staff to offer services to only vaccinated citizens and refuse services to those who fail to show vaccination certificates.

The health department separately wrote to the home department to ensure that vaccination certificates be made an obligatory part of the enforcement of COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued for restaurants and hotels.

Under the SOPs, citizens who are not in possession of vaccination certificates must not be allowed to dine-in at restaurants or stay at hotels.

No vaccination no service

The NCOC has made vaccination certificates mandatory across the country for various services.

Fuel

Unvaccinated people in Lahore were to be denied petrol starting September 1 and people travelling via the motorway were also asked by motorway police to keep their vaccination certificates handy.

Public transport, domestic air travel
Unvaccinated people will not be allowed to use public transport from October 15 and vaccination will be mandatory after September 30 for domestic air travel.

Shopping malls

Furthermore, unvaccinated people will not be allowed to enter shopping malls from August 31 and from September 30, only those people who will have taken both vaccine shots will be allowed in shopping malls.

Hotels and restaurants

For hotels and restaurants, from August 31, people with one vaccine shot will be allowed, whereas, from September 30, both shots will be mandatory to access hotels and restaurants.

Marriage ceremonies

NCOC also announced that those who have not taken both vaccine doses will not be allowed to attend marriage ceremonies, whether they are indoor or outdoor, after September 30.

Pakistan records 3,613 fresh corona cases in last 24 hrs

Pakistan records 3,613 fresh corona cases in last 24 hrs
Pakistan has confirmed 3,613 fresh COVID-19 cases - continuing its trend of reporting less than 4,000 daily infections for the fourth consecutive day - in the last 24 hours.

The latest figures for Pakistan from the National Command and Operation Centre from Monday morning showed that 3,613 new cases had been identified overnight after 57,131 tests were taken.

The total number of positive cases since the pandemic started now stands at 1,182,918.
The NCOC placed the positivity rate at 6.32%. The country has reported a positivity rate under 7% for 12 out of 14 days since August 24.

Meanwhile, the country reported 57 fatalities over the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 26,232.

In the last 24 hours, 3,438 people recovered from the virus, taking the count for total recoveries to 1,064,319. The number of active cases are 92,367.

Pakistan is reporting 3,832 new infections on average each day, 65% of the peak — the highest daily average reported on June 17.

Pakistan has administered at least 59,384,758 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs two doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 13.7% of the country’s population.

During the last week reported, Pakistan averaged about 1,072,051 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take a further 41 days to administer enough doses for another 10% of the population.

Brazil-Argentina clash suspended after health officials intervene over quarantine breach

Brazil-Argentina clash suspended after health officials intervene over quarantine breach
A World Cup qualifier between Argentina and Brazil was suspended amid farcical scenes on Sunday after Brazilian health authorities accused a number of Premier League players of violating the country's Covid-19 quarantine rules.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Tottenham duo Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso were on the Neo Quimica Arena pitch as part of the Argentine line-up when officials from Brazil's health regulator Anvisa invaded the pitch and stopped the game around five minutes after kickoff.

The trio, along with Aston Villa's Emiliano Buendia, who was in the stands, had reportedly breached Brazilian rules stating that travellers who have been in the UK, South Africa or India during the previous 14 days are forbidden from entering the country, unless they are Brazilian citizens or have permanent residency.

The regulations were put in place to control the spread of Covid-19, which has killed more than 583,000 Brazilians.

While the visiting team quickly left the field, the two coaches, along with Argentina captain Lionel Messi and the Brazilian players, gathered at the side of the pitch to discuss the stoppage.

“Why did they start the game and stop it after five minutes?” Messi said in comments heard on television.

“We've been here at the stadium for an hour, they could have told us.”

Messi then returned to the dressing room and at 5pm local time, an hour after the game kicked off, the match was officially suspended.

The referee and the match official will take a report to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee and they will decide what steps to take, said a statement issued by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL).

Anvisa said they had issued ample warnings that the four Argentines were in contravention of Brazilian health regulations.

Argentine officials were told on Saturday the four should isolate and when the instructions were ignored, Anvisa asked Brazilian federal police to enforce the isolation ruling on Sunday morning, the regulator said.

Their attempts were “frustrated,” Anvisa said in a statement issued late on Sunday.

Brazilian Football Confederation president said he was indignant with the scenes that reverberated around the football world.

Ednaldo Rodrigues criticised Anvisa and said officials told him the Argentines who breached the country's Covid-19 rules could have been deported after the game.

"I feel sorry for all the sports fans who wanted to watch the game on television," he told Brazil's Sportv.

"With all due respect to Anvisa, they could have resolved this earlier and not waited for the game to start."

A shellshocked Argentine coach Lionel Scaloni agreed.

"It makes me so sad, I am not looking for guilty parties, whatever happened or didn't happen, this wasn't the time to do it," he told Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports.

"We wanted to enjoy a game between the best in the world and it ends up like this.

"As a coach I am going to defend my players. If people come and say we want to take this guy or deport this guy there was no chance of that,” he said.

“Because at no time were we told we couldn't play the game.”

Argentine officials believed the same protocols used in the Copa America in Brazil in June were in place for the World Cup qualifiers to allow teams to travel across the continent.

Bilawal takes anti-govt fight to Punjab with call for jiyalas to 'rise'

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday took his anti-government campaign to the heart of the PTI's rule — Punjab — where in the city of Dera Ghazi Khan, he called on his party jiyalas (loyalists) to "rise".

"My message to Punjab's jiyalas, is: rise, jiyalas, rise," he said, while addressing party workers in the city.

Bilawal said that "those who had stood firm in the face of dictatorship will see this selected ruler removed".

"Begin your preparations. Move ahead at full throttle. The next government will be that of the Peoples Party," he declared, adding: "The next prime minister and the next chief minister will be a jiyala."

"My message to all the jiyalas is that the country needs you once more," he continued.

"Let us work together and topple this puppet government," the PPP chairman said.

Bilawal claimed that with the people's support to the PPP, he will make South Punjab a reality.

The PPP chairman noted that the people are "hurting" and "every citizen is troubled". "What kind of Naya Pakistan has been imposed on us?" he asked.

"What kind of torment has this 'selected' brought? Inflation and unemployment are at a historic level," Bilawal said, using his most-oft used word for the prime minister.

He said that in the time of former president Asif Ali Zardari, who is co-chairman of PPP, a "revolutionary programme for women was launched" and "all employment records were broken".

"We had started the export of wheat and farmers were reaping economic benefits," the PPP chairman said.

He recalled that all four provinces were prospering then due to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

"After the end of PPP's tenure, the people have been left orphaned," he said, adding: "There is no one to speak for the people."

Bilawal, continuing to censure the government, said that PM Imran Khan has "robbed people of money", "robbed them of meals" and "robbed them of their vote", adding that "we will not forgive him".

He said that the prime minister had also "left 20,000 people unemployed", after promising people millions of jobs and houses.

"He is robbing you of the roof over your head in the name of encroachment," Bilawal said.

"Khan sahab is snatching away the roti (food), kapra (clothing) and makaan (shelter) from the people," he added.

The PPP chairman said: "PTI and PML-N think that it is only by making the rich even richer that the country can prosper".

"No matter how much you support the rich, the economy will not benefit," he said.

"In PPP eras, support was always provided to the poor," he said.
