Wheat corruption case: SHC Extends bail of PPP,S Nisar Khuro
The Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended the pre-arrest bail of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nisar Khuhro in a case related to alleged irregularities in the wheat procurement, on Wednesday.
Nisar Khuhro along with other accused in the case appeared before the SHC bench. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) counsel informed the court that inquiry against the PPP stalwart and other accused was underway and sought more time from the court. The court while extending the pre-arrest bail of Nisar Khuhro ordered NAB to complete an inquiry against the accused until September 28 and present the progress report. He is also being investigated over his alleged involvement in money laundering.

Pakistan records 81 more corona deaths in a day
Pakistan has recorded 81 more COVID-19 deaths during the past 24 hours, pushing the country’s overall death toll to 24,085, ARY News reported, quoting the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).
The NCOC said that the country’s number of overall confirmed cases has risen to 1,080,360 after the emergence of 4,856 new infections. Overall 972,098 have recovered from the pandemic, adding that the positivity rate of infections was recorded at 7.50 per cent as compared to yesterday’s 7.84% . The COVID-19 claimed 81 more lives across Pakistan in the last 24 hours, the NCOC said, adding that 4,513 people are in critical condition. Overall 16,616,130 tests have been conducted so far to diagnose the deadly virus in Pakistan including 65,690 in the past 24 hours. Sindh province is the most affected region of the country with 403,964 infections, followed by the Punjab province which has reported 367,054 cases.

A foreign airlines flight carrying one million doses of Covid-19 vaccine landed in Islamabad, quoting sources on Wednesday.Pakistan has received Covid vaccine consignment of China’s Sinopharm under the COVAX vaccine platform. The vaccine consignment has been shifted to the central warehouse of the federal Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI) from the airport, sources said.
China has provided 10 million doses of Sinopharm to COVAX vaccine alliance, sources said. According to sources, a shipment of overall 6.1 million doses of Sinopharm will be handed over to Pakistan in the ongoing week under the COVAX programme. “This is for the first time that Pakistan will be receiving Sinopharm vaccine under COVAX,” they said adding that the platform has provided Pakistan 8.1 million doses of Covid vaccines so far. Pakistan has received 5.5 million doses of Moderna, 2.5 million doses of Astra Zeneca, and 100,000 doses of Pfizer through the COVAX platform, they added. Pakistan has expedited efforts to inoculate its population through restrictions imposed on unvaccinated people. Pakistan has been a member of the COVAX international vaccine platform, which will provide free vaccine for its 20 percent population, sources added. The tally of COVID-19 vaccination in Pakistan is increasing with each passing day. According to the figures shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the vaccine doses administered across Pakistan in the last 24 hours stand at 11,58,744. It further shared that the total vaccines administered in Pakistan until now have reached beyond 34.24 million.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Aug, 2021 ) :Director General Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) Farzana Altaf Shah and her team on Tuesday found that Multi Professionals Co-operative Housing Society (MPCHS) in B-17 sector of the Capital lacked proper sewage treatment and solid waste management system. A surprise visit of MPCHS was conducted by the Pak-EPA DG along with senior officials of the Agency including Deputy Director Khalid Mehmood, said a news release. During the visit, it was found that MPCHS not only lacked an operational sewerage treatment plant but also failed to properly collect and manage its solid waste. Although, the society was granted a conditional environmental approval in 2007, the society was continuously discharging its sewage into the nearby nullah and has also encroached parts of the nullah.
