CTD kills five terrorists of banned organization
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed at least five terrorists of banned organisation in exchange of fire in Quetta on Tuesday.

The CTD conducted a raid in the Western By-pass area in Quetta on an intelligence-based report during which terrorists hiding in area opened fire.

The CTD personnel in retaliatory fire killed five terrorists. A huge quantity of explosive material and arms were also recovered from the compound of the killed terrorists.
Earlier this month, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) had arrested an alleged terrorist associated with a banned outfit during a raid on a tip-off in Balochistan’s Naseerabad area.

Coronavirus death toll crosses 24,000 mark in Pakistan

Coronavirus death toll crosses 24,000 mark in Pakistan
In the last 24 hours, 86 more people have died in Pakistan due to the ongoing fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic, after which the death toll has crossed 24,000.

The National Command and Operation Centre's (NCOC) daily numbers showed that 49,506 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours. Of these, 3,884 came back positive.

According to the NCOC, the positivity rate now stands at 7.84%.

The number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has crossed 24,000 and reached 24,004 and the total number of cases has reached 1,075,504.

In addition to this, 2,669 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 967,073, while the number of active cases is 84,427.

YouTube’s new feature to highlight creators

YouTube has launched a new feature, ‘On The Rise’, which will highlight its rising creators.

“Starting today, we’ll highlight creators who are ‘On The Rise’ in a new section of our Trending Tab in Pakistan. Each week, a different creator will be highlighted and featured for a full day on Trending with the following badge: Creator on the Rise,” says a press release.

It says any creator with over 1,000 subscribers is eligible to be featured. ‘On The Rise’ creators will be highlighted based on a bunch of factors, including but not limited to view count, watchtime, and subscriber growth and will roll out to more languages in future.

Our team is also involved in the process to help select which eligible creators will be featured.

“One creator will be highlighted each week; we’ll let them know when they are featured so they can share the moment with their fans, old and new! We hope this will help the world discover inspirational new creators,” the press release, issued by Syntax Communications, further says.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has decided to field Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly member Barrister Sultan Mehmood as its candidate for the presidential election in the region.

Barrister Sultan Mehmood, who has previously served as the prime minister of the region, has been elected on the PTI ticket from LA-3 Mirpur.

He was among the favourite contenders for the slot of the prime minister of the region when Imran Khan decided in favour of Sardar Qayyum Niazi.

The presidential election in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will be held on August 17, the region’s election commission said while announcing the schedule.

The candidates could submit their nomination papers for the presidential polls on August 12, the election commission said.

The candidates could withdraw their nomination papers till August 16. Polling for the election will be held on August 17 from 10:00 in the morning till 2:00 PM, according to the election commission.

Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly’s 53 members will cast their votes to elect new president of the region.

The Chief Justice of Azad Kashmir supreme court will administer oath to the new president on August 24. It is pertinent to mention here that the tenure of incumbent president Masood Khan will be complete on August 24.
