PIA suspends swat saidu sharif flights due to lack of require passengers
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended its flights to and from Swat’s Saidu Shrif airport, rendering it non-operational again.

The national flag carrier cancelled Islamabad-Saidu Sharif flights due to lack of the required number of passengers.
In March, the Saidu Sharif airport was made operational on a request by the airline. PIA’s inaugural flight had landed at the airport on March 26, marking resumption of flights to Saidu Sharif after 17 years.

The national airline had announced to operate two flights from Lahore and Islamabad to Saidu Sharif in a week.

The Saidu Sharif airport had been non-operational since 2004 after the national flag carrier ceased to operate commercial flights to this destination due to security reasons.

Provincial Transport Minister Awais Qadir Shah has said that the deputy commissioner Larkana has provided an ambulance to the transport department for vaccination of the unvaccinated passengers. “Over 50 unvaccinated passengers were administered vaccine shots in the ambulance,” the minister said.

“Ten vehicles were confiscated over not having vaccination certificates and non-compliance of the coronavirus SOPs,” transport minister said.

Sindh’s transport ministry has formed teams to check COVID-19 vaccination certificates of the people travelling through public transports across the province amid surge in COVID-19 cases in the province.

The teams will check the vaccination certificates at the inter-city and intra-city bus stops to ensure the people travelling through public transport are vaccinated against the pandemic.

The drive will continue until July 18, the department said.

He in a statement had said that the vaccination certificate of travellers would be checked to make sure they have got themselves vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The minister had also called for people coming to Sindh from other provinces to bring vaccination proof with them.

SINDH REPORTS 35 CASES OF DELTA COVID-19 VARIANT

SINDH REPORTS 35 CASES OF DELTA COVID-19 VARIANT
As many as 35 cases of the Indian Delta variant of the COVID-19 have been reported in Sindh, confirmed provincial health department on Tuesday, reported.

Secretary health Sindh, Qasim Soomro said five members of a family hailing from Karachi’s Lyari confirmed infected with the Indian Delta variant of the coronavirus.

The condition of four people is said to be critical and they are currently hospitalised. Soomro further said that the authorities are tracing the people who met with the infected people recently in a bid to control the spread of the deadly variant.
The citizens have been advised to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible to avoid the further spread of the virus.

Earlier this month, 20 people were diagnosed with the delta variant of Covid-19 in the Rawalpindi district.

What is the Delta variant of Covid-19?
Multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants are circulating globally. One of these is the B.1.617 lineage, detected in India earlier this year. Early evidence suggests that its sub-lineage B.1.617.2, known as the Delta variant, is more transmissible than contemporary lineages.

The World Health Organizaton (WHO), which has given it the label Delta, has categorised it as a variant of concern (VOC). It has said it continues to observe “significantly increased transmissibility” and a “growing number of countries reporting outbreaks associated with this variant”.

WHO classifies a variant as a VOC when it is associated with an increase in transmissibility or detrimental change in Covid-19 epidemiology; increase in virulence; or decrease in the effectiveness of public health measures or available diagnostics, vaccines, therapeutics.
