New Timings for educational institutions notified
The timings for the educational institutions in Lahore that are scheduled to reopen from June 7, have been notified, reported.

According to CEO Education Lahore Pervaiz Akhtar, the educational institutions will resume the academic activities with 50 per cent strength and no student shall attend the school for two consecutive days.

The classes from nursery to the middle for girls will commence at 7.15 am and will close at 11.15 am. The timing for classes of matriculation and intermediate would be from 7.15 am to 11.45 am.

Meanwhile, the classes from nursery to the middle for boys will commence at 7.30 am and will close at 11.30 am. The timing for classes of matriculation and intermediate would be from 7.30 am to 12.00 pm.

All the concerned authorities have been directed to ensure the observance and compliance of COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) in letter and spirit.

The Punjab government, yesterday, had announced the reopening of educational institutions across the province from June 7 (Monday).

A notification was also issued by Punjab School Education Department.

According to a notification, all the public and private schools, colleges and universities would reopen across the province from June 7 with strict compliance of Covid-19 SOPs.

However, educational institutions are allowed to call students on alternate days with 50 per cent attendance. The schools would open four days a week.

It is pertinent to mention here that Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood announced yesterday that matric and intermediate exams will begin after July 10 across the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan says “our economic turnaround and success of our construction policy” are showing results in different sectors.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the prime minister said a near-bankrupt Capital Development Authority (CDA), which posted a deficit of Rs5.8 billion in 2017, will close this financial year with Rs73 billion in surplus. He lauded the CDA team for this turnaround.

“With financial stability achieved, it’s time to accelerate transformation of Islamabad into a model city with priority being on reform & restructuring,” PM Imran Khan said. “Other mega cities can also become self-sustaining economic engines of growth through commitment, transparency & innovation,” he suggested.


On May 29, PM Khan commended efforts of the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) over crossing tax collection of Rs4,000 billion in a fiscal year for the first time ever in Pakistan’s history.

“I commend efforts of FBR in crossing historic milestone of Rs 4,000 bn in any yr for first time ever. During Jul-May our collections reached Rs.4143 bn & still counting – 18% higher than same period last yr. This reflects broad-based economic revival spurred by govt policies,” he tweeted.

Pakistan records 83 more corona deaths in a day
Pakistan has reported 83 more deaths in the last 24 hours by coronavirus (COVID-19) taking the nationwide tally of fatalities to 21,105, reported on Friday.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, as many as 1,893 new cases of the COVID-19 detected. The overall country’s caseload stands at 928,588.

A total of 52,859 samples were tested to diagnose the deadly virus, out of which 1,893 turned out to be positive. The positivity rate of infections was recorded at 3.58%, the NCOC said.

3,431 more people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recovered patients to 856,005. The number of COVID-19 patients in critical care has come down to 3,557.

Thursday, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) had directed the provincial governments to take strict administrative actions against the masses flouting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of COVID-19.

The NCOC had issued directives during a meeting held in Islamabad today with Planning and Development minister Asad Umar in the chair.

The meeting was attended by chief secretaries of the provinces including that of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) via video link.

The forum decided to take all possible steps to ensure the implementation of COVID SOPs along with pursuing the mass vaccination campaign.

Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said the government has approved a new visa policy for Chinese nationals regarding China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects (CPEC).

This he said, during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong in Islamabad, he said the minimum period of new visas for Chinese nationals has been set at two years.

Sheikh Rasheed said that Chinese nationals would now be issued work visas within 48 hours from the respective missions and special desks are also being set up at airports to facilitate them.

The Chinese ambassador the government of Pakistan for easing visa facilities for Chinese nationals, which would further enhance the relationship between the two countries.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that timely completion of China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects was the top priority of his government.

Talking to the Chinese ambassador in Pakistan Nong Rong, who called on him in Islamabad, PM Imran had said that they were working expeditiously on the CPEC projects.

Matters of mutual interest, bilateral relations, CPEC, 70thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, vaccine cooperation and other matters were discussed in the meeting.
