The minister, who is also the vice chairman of the ruling PTI, quoted Prime Minister Imran Khan as saying that there is zero possibility for an NRO for the accused politicians.

On his twitter handle, the vice-chairman wrote: “Announcement to present no-confidence motion is an attempt at a bargaining chip for a fresh deal. PSL7: Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by six wickets

PSL
Even though Multan Sultans defeated Islamabad United by six wickets, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side's slow innings ensured that their opponent make it to the playoffs in the 29th match of the ongoing seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Multan was given a 106-run target by United after Islamabad skipper Asif Ali elected to bat first at the toss. Going in the match Islamabad United needed to win the game if they wanted to make it to the playoffs easily.

However, Quetta’s win over Karachi Kings by 23 runs had tipped the odds in United’s favour. The Asif Ali-led side needed to ensure that Sultans do not reach the target in 3.5 overs, which they completed.

Sultans needed one player to stand till the end, as the pitch was difficult to bat at, and Multan skipper Mohammad Rizwan stayed till the end to complete the chase.

Sultans lost Shan Masood (4) and Amir Azmat (4) in the third over in the space of four balls. While Kushdil Shah also went cheaply for two runs in the fifth over.

In the eighth over Tim David also went to the pavilion putting Sultans at 43/4. However, Rizwan dug in deep with David Willey to take Sultans past the finishing line in the 18th over.

Rizwan ended the innings with a six and remained not out on 51 while Willey also stayed till the end with his 28 runs.

For Islamabad, Liam Dawson picked three wickets while Zahid Mahmood picked one wicket.

Earlier, a masterclass from the Multan Sultans helped their side restrict Islamabad United at 105 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

United made a slow start to their innings and lost Mohammad Huraira and Dawson within the powerplay. Huraira was dismissed by Asif Afridi in the third over, while Willey removed Dawson in the sixth over.

By the time the powerplay ended United had made 41 and lost two wickets.

Sultans continued mounting pressure on the United batters and by the halfway of the innings they were 49/3.

In the next five overs, Sultans bowlers dismissed Azam Khan, Asif Ali, Danish Aziz to further dent the United’s innings. All three batsmen were dismissed in single figures with United reaching 70/6 by the 15th over.

Islamabad was looking to get dismissed within 100 runs but Muhammad Musa’s crucial 26 runs helped their side reach 105 for the loss of 7 wickets.

For Sultans, Imran Tahir and Asif Afridi picked two wickets each. While David Willey, Shahnawaz Dahani and Tim David picked one wicket each.

Multan Sultans: Mohammad Rizwan (c, wk), Shan Masood, Rilee Rossouw Tim David, Khushdil Shah, Amir Azmat, Asif Afridi, Imran Tahir, David Willey, Shahnawaz Dahani, Rumman Raees

Islamabad United: Nasir Nawaz, Muhammad Huraira, Liam Dawson, Asif Ali (c), Azam Khan (wk), Danish Aziz, Zafar Gohar, Merchant de Lange, Athar Mahmood, Zahid Mahmood, Muhammad Musa

Pakistan's economic downturn responsible for street crimes: CM Sindh

CM Sindh
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah claimed Pakistan's economic downturn was the driving force being the rising street crimes in the port city.

The CM said this while talking to the media just after proposing Sindh PPP President Nisar Khuhro for the Senate seat that had fallen vacant after the disqualification of PTI leader Faisal Vawda.

“Street crime has increased in the city due to economic downturn but being head of provincial government, it is my responsibility to maintain law and order in the province,” said CM Murad.

Talking about the law and order, the CM said that he has made some changes in the city’s police and have ordered them to take “drastic measures”.

The CM said that the Sindh government has taken the challenge to eradicate street crimes from the metropolis to restore the writ of the government.

The minister said that his government — with the support of the people of Karachi — had eliminated terrorism from the metropolis before.

Appreciating the efforts of Sindh police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies, Shah said that their efforts and support crushed terrorists in this city and brought terrorism under control.

"Now we are taking drastic measures to eliminate street crime," he assured the people.

The CM also assured the reporters that the killers of journalist Athar Mateen would be arrested soon.

From COAS Bajwa to a soldier, all stands behind PM Khan: Fawad Ch

Fawad Ch
Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Saturday that everyone — from Chief of Army Staff General Qamar (COAS) Javed Bajwa to a common soldier — stands behind Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"The citizens of Pakistan stand behind PM Imran Khan as well," the confident information minister said while speaking in Geo News' programme "Naya Pakistan".

The federal minister said a person should have the tendency to resolve issues amicably and work along with the institutions.

"If soldiers are being martyred in Kargil and the if then PM (Nawaz Sharif) goes to India to expand steel business, who will stand by him?"

Chaudhry said when the PML-N was in government, they were unpopular and their ties with the institutions were not good as well. The information minister claimed the Nawaz Sharif-led party had failed to rule Pakistan.

"Institutions want to see a person in charge who is loyal to Pakistan," Chaudhry added.

The statement comes in the backdrop of the ruling party, PTI, launching a campaign in order to counter the Opposition’s efforts to bring a no-trust motion.

In his address in the first campaign rally in Mandi Bahauddin on Friday, PM Imran said that letting PML-N supremo Nawaz leave Pakistan was a "major mistake" made by the incumbent government.

"I have a message for the Sharif family: The captain is ready for all your plans. You will not only face defeat, but all of you will go to jail," the prime minister vowed.

Vawda moves Supreme Court against ECP, IHC decisions

Vawda moves Supreme Court against ECP, IHC decisions
PTI leader and former federal minister Faisal Vawda has challenged his lifetime disqualification and the Islamabad High Court's (IHC) order to maintain it, in the Supreme Court, seeking his restoration to the Senator's seat.

Vawda, who was recently declared ineligible as a lawmaker for life by the ECP, had challenged the commission's verdict in the IHC, seeking revocation of his lifetime disqualification. However, the high court dismissed his plea.

The PTI leader has nominated ECP and the complainants who had challenged his election as a lawmaker as respondents in his apex court petition, maintaining that he didn't hide any details from the election commission.

"The ECP exceeded its authority [...] ECP lacked jurisdiction to invoke Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution to disqualify me for life since it was not a court of law," he argued in the petition, adding that he got US citizenship by birth.

Stating that the IHC hastily dismissed the plea for the revocation of his disqualification, Vawda sought his restoration on the Senator's seat through nullification of ECP and IHC's decisions.

IHC dismisses Faisal Vawda's plea
The IHC on Thursday dismissed former federal minister Faisal Vawda's plea seeking the revocation of his lifetime disqualification.

"...the Court has not been able to persuade itself that the impugned order, dated 09-02-2022, suffers from any legal infirmity requiring interference. The petition is, therefore, accordingly dismissed," IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah — who heard the case — said in the judgement.

Justice Minallah said the date for being qualified to be a member of the Parliament was the date when the nomination papers were filed.

"...the process of relinquishment of the foreign nationality should have been completed and concluded before submission of the nomination papers," the judge noted.

The IHC noted that it is, indeed, a settled law that when a citizen of Pakistan has acquired the citizenship of a foreign state, the latter shall not be qualified to be elected or chosen or being a member of the Parliament until and unless such legal status — being a citizen of a foreign state — was obliterated or extinguished.

The judge said the petitioner had contested from NA 249, Karachi, in the general elections held in 2018. His notification as a member of the National Assembly was challenged before various forums, including the IHC.

In the petitions against Vawda, it was alleged that he had filed a false affidavit to get elected as an MNA.

However, "for reasons best known to him", the former federal minister's conduct before the IHC remained "evasive" and he kept delaying the proceedings on one pretext or the other.

"It appears from the record that instead of establishing his bonafides by producing a certificate of renunciation of citizenship, proceedings were delayed by the petitioner before the Commission," the IHC said.

Justice Minallah noted it was not "pleasant" for the court to disqualify an elected member of the Parliament. "...the courts claim no supremacy over organs that represent the people of Pakistan.

"The petitioner’s conduct has led to disqualification of an elected representative and, regrettably, he alone is responsible for the consequences," it added.

What is the case?
Vawda had won the 2018 general election from Karachi's NA-249 constituency.

In January 2020, an investigative report published in The News had revealed that Vawda may have committed perjury by falsely declaring in an oath to the ECP that he did not hold any, foreign nationality.

According to The News, Vawda was in possession of a United States passport at the time he filed his nomination papers on June 11, 2018. The minister remained an American national even at the time the scrutiny of his nomination papers were completed.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan in a past judgement has categorically ruled that candidates who hold dual nationality are supposed to submit a renunciation certificate of the foreign nationality along with their nomination papers.

The same judgement has previously led to the disqualification of various lawmakers, notable among whom Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senators Saadia Abbasi and Haroon Akhtar.

Therefore, PPP MNA Qadir Khan Mandokhail, Asif Mehmood and Mian Faisal, had sought Vawda's disqualification maintaining that he had concealed his US nationality while submitting his nomination papers to the returning officer for the National Assembly seat, and refrained from stating the date of his renunciation of the US nationality despite being asked by the ECP several times.

During the trial, Vawda sought received multiple extensions and received as many warnings for the submission of his arguments to counter the prosecution's stance.

Six terrorists killed in exchange of fire near Balochistan's Buleda area: ISPR

Six terrorists killed in exchange of fire near Balochistan's Buleda area
Six terrorists, who were involved in recent attacks on military personnel in Balochistan's Kech district, were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces in Injirkan Range near the district's Buleda area on Wednesday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military's media affairs wing said in a statement that security forces conducted an operation in Injirkan Range on the basis of information about the presence of a terrorists' hideout "to apprehend [the] externally sponsored enemies of peace in Balochistan".

When the troops started a clearance operation in the area, the terrorists tried to escape their camp and opened fire on security forces, the statement said, adding that six of the terrorist were killed during an intense exchange of fire.

"These terrorists were involved in recent firing and attacks on security forces in the Kech district."

According to the ISPR, a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during the operation.

"Operations to eliminate such perpetrators of terrorist acts in Pakistan will continue and they will not be allowed to sabotage [the] peace, stability and progress of Balochistan," the ISPR statement read.

Recently, there has been a rise in incidents of terrorism in Balochistan, with two major terrorist attacks on security forces reported within the span of a week.

In late January, ten soldiers were martyred after terrorists had attacked a security forces' checkpost in Balochistan's Kech district.

According to a statement issued by the ISPR, the "fire raid" by terrorists occurred on the night of Jan 25-26.

"During intense exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed and several injured. While repulsing terrorists' fire raid, 10 soldiers embraced martyrdom," the statement said.

Then on February 2, terrorists had attempted to attack security forces' camps in Panjgur and Naushki in two separate incidents. However, security forces had repulsed both the attacks and killed 20 terrorists in a subsequent clearance operation.

In Panjgur, terrorists had tried to enter a security forces' camp from two locations. "However, timely response by troops foiled their attempt," the ISPR had said.

The military's media wing had said five soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, were martyred and six injured during follow-up operations in Panjgur.

In Naushki, according to the ISPR, terrorists attempted to enter a Frontier Corps camp which was "promptly responded", adding that four terrorists were killed as a result.

The statement had said one officer was injured during the shootout.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa had presided over the 247th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi last week, where a comprehensive briefing on the security situation in the country, particularly the recent terror attacks in Balochistan, was given.

Gen Bajwa had said on the occasion that desperate attempts by terrorists for their revival won’t be allowed to succeed.

Govt increased price of petrol by Rs12.03 per litre

petrol
The government on Tuesday dropped a major bombshell on the people by increasing the price of petrol by Rs12.03 per litre due to an increase in the prices of crude oil in the international market.

“The prices of petroleum products are showing drastic increase in the international market and presently are at the highest level since 2014. Despite the unabated increase since the beginning of the year, Prime Minister Imran Khan deferred the last review of petroleum products' prices on January 31, 2022 and advised against the summary of OGRA,” said the finance division in the latest statement.

The finance division stated that the government had also levied 0% sales tax and reduced the levy to provide “relief” to the consumers against budgeted.

The finance division said that the “relief” had led the government to bear a revenue loss of around Rs 35 billion fortnightly.

“In the fortnightly review of Petroleum Products' prices, prime minister has considered the recommendation to increase the prices of petroleum products in line with change in the international oil prices. Despite increase in the prices of petroleum products, Petroleum levy and sales tax have been kept to the minimum,” said the notification.

Faisal Vawda challenges disqualification decision in IHC

Faisal Vawda challenges disqualification decision in IHC
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda on Tuesday has challenged Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) verdict of disqualifying him for life in Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The former senator, in his petition, has stated that the election commission has no jurisdiction to take disqualification decision. The judgment of ECP has no legal status, he mentioned.

Earlier, ECP had disqualified PTI’s Faisal Vawda for life over concealing his dual nationality at the time of participating in the National Assembly election on a Karachi seat during 2018 General Elections.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja announced its reserved verdict, directing the PTI leader to return the salary and other benefits he had received as a member of NA (MNA) within two months.

The commission had also declared the vote which Vawda had cast in the Senate elections on March 10 as MNA "invalid". Vawda had submitted a false affidavit with his nomination papers, ECP stated.

It is to be mentioned here that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Qadir Khan Mandokhail, Mian Faisal and Mian Asif Mehmood had filed a plea against Vawda, stating that he is no longer Sadiq and Ameen (truthful and trustworthy) as he concealed his dual citizenship and submitted a false affidavit in the ECP with his nomination papers.

Talking to media after the hearing, Mandokhail said he emerged victorious in the case after visiting courts for nearly four years. ECP’s order to Vawda to return all benefits he had received as a parliamentarian is a good precedent, he added.

On January 20, an investigative report revealed that Faisal Vawda had committed perjury by falsely declaring in an oath to the ECP that he did not hold any foreign nationality.

Vawda was in possession of a United States passport at the time he filed his nomination papers on June 11, 2018. The minister remained an American national even at the time the scrutiny of his nomination papers was completed, the report found.

Raast will provide benefit to the common man: PM Imran

Raast will provides benefit to the common man: PM Imran
Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday said that 22 billion people are a huge power for any country as they can contribute in the economy in an effective manner.

While addressing a launching ceremony of “Raast” program, the PM suggested that to strengthen ourselves as a nation, we should take advantage from technology.

The Raast program will provide benefit to the common man, he added.

The PM told that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is striving to take our country to the digital revolution.

According to a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) report, we have diminished poverty in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and this leads us to get re-elected in the province, he stated.
The Raast programme is a digital platform developed by the State Bank of Pakistan for remittances and transactions between citizens, businesses and government agencies.

The digitally faster and easier system will facilitate the common man in accessing banking channels and electronic transactions.

At the same time, it will help various financial institutions, including commercial banks, microfinance institutions and banks, government agencies and Fintax, to access and connect to the central system at low-cost with time saving.

After its success at the level of direct business and investment last year, it has been launched at the level of citizens for the convenience of the common man.

No other alternative to Taliban in Afghanistan: PM Imran Khan

pm imran khan
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that there is "no other alternative to Taliban in Afghanistan," so the "only option the world has right now is to engage with the Taliban for things to move forward."

In an exclusive interview with Fareed Fareed Zakaria for CNN, the premier talked about Pakistan's diplomatic relations with the new Taliban government in Afghanistan, the current state of the war on terror, and other issues.

PM said that sooner or later, the Taliban will have to be recognised by the world as it is about the well-being and future of about 40 million Afghans.

"Forty million people in Afghanistan are in dire straits because of the ongoing situation in the country," the premier said, adding that the people of the United States should understand that disliking the Taliban government is one thing but thinking about the welfare of the Afghans is another as they are facing "extreme difficulties."

"Afghanistan is on the verge of experiencing the worst humanitarian crisis," PM Imran Khan said. "Considering the circumstances, is there any other alternative to the Taliban in Afghanistan? No, there isn't."

The premier questioned how would it be beneficial for the people of Afghanistan if the Taliban government is overthrown.

"Therefore, the only alternative we have is to work with the Taliban government [for the sake of the Afghans] because turning the Taliban away would only lead to chaos in the country," PM Imran Khan reiterated.

Answering a question, the PM said that Pakistan already has three million Afghan refugees so the country does not have the capacity to accept more.

"The Afghan people are being severely affected by the non-recognition of the Taliban government and the freezing of their banking system," the premier said.

He went on to say that the United States' War on Terror (WoT) backfired and increased the number of terrorists worldwide, adding that because of the war, there had been extensive casualties in Pakistan as more than 80,000 Pakistani citizens lost their lives during the war.

"Pakistan had to bear the brunt of the war in Afghanistan by witnessing numerous suicide attacks," he said. "The US must reconsider its policy on carrying out drone attacks."

Imperative to break nexus between terrorists and sympathisers to defeat terrorism: COAS Bajwa

COAS
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa urged on Saturday that it is “imperative” to break the “nexus between terrorists and their sympathisers and support base” to defeat terrorism, said the military’s media wing.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief passed the remarks while interacting with the notables and tribal elders of Panjgur.

In his interaction, the COAS lauded the tribal elders for their support to law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism.

“Breaking nexus between terrorists and their sympathisers and support base is imperative for defeating terrorism,” COAS reiterated. The elders of the area were also assured of the army’s “all-out support for creating” an environment for prosperity and development in the area, particularly in the “timely completion of ongoing socio-economic projects”.

“Terrorists will not be allowed to reverse the hard-earned gains irrespective of the challenges,” said Gen Bajwa.

The army chief was in Panjgur on a day-long visit to spend time with the troops that repulsed a terrorist attack in Panjgur on February 2.

During the visit, Gen Bajwa was given a “detailed update by the local commander on the security situation in the area and response mechanism to effectively check emerging threats”.

While addressing the troops, the army chief lauded the professionalism and the effective response of the ground troops in the recent terrorist activities.

“COAS emphasised on maintaining high standards of operational readiness to fail hostile efforts to destabilise Balochistan and ensure safety and security of the local population,” said the ISPR. He also paid tribute to the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice in the line of duty for the defence of the motherland.

Earlier on arrival, the army chief was received by Commander Quetta Corps Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali.

Sindh government reappointed former Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon

Ghulam Nabi Memon
In view of escalating street crime in the country's largest metropolitan area, the Sindh government has reappointed former Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon to the post on Friday.

Officials said that a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah a few days ago had reviewed in detail several policing related issues, including the reactivation of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and spiralling street crime. The meeting agreed to appoint Memon again as Karachi's police chief because it believed law and order had been restored during his time as the city's additional IG.

In this regard, the Sindh chief secretary issued a notification on Friday announcing transfers and postings of Additional IGs based in Karachi, including the Karachi police chief. The order states that Additional IG Ghulam Nabi Memon, a Police Service of Pakistan (BS-21) officer previously assigned as Special Branch's Additional IG, has been transferred and appointed as the Karachi police's Additional IG with immediate effect, replacing Additional IG Imran Yaqoob Minhas.

Additional IG Minhas was transferred from the post of the Karachi police chief to the post of the CTD Additional IG. Meanwhile, Additional IG Javed Akhtar Odho, who was serving as the research and development Additional IG, was transferred and posted as the Special Branch Additional IG, replacing Memon.

The newly appointed Karachi Additional IG is an experienced officer who has served in key positions. During the last 10 years, he also served in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in several key positions. In 2019, he was appointed as the Karachi police chief.

Earlier, he served as the Malir SSP, District Larkana SSP, ADIG establishment Karachi, additional secretary to the Sindh chief minister, director of enquiries, Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh, ADIG operations Karachi, DPO Hyderabad, DIG South Range, and DIG Headquarters, Central Police Office Karachi.

Speaking to The News, Additional IG Memon said his priorities included curbing the menace of street crime in the city and ensuring the self-respect of every citizen. He remarked that citizens usually had to face difficulties in registering complaints, and when their complaints were lodged, often no outcome came.

He said he wanted to create a mechanism to help create a good picture of the police so that citizens would not hesitate while approaching police stations to register their complaints. The new city police chief also stated that he intended to revive model police stations in the city. He added that he would meet with the general public and hear their issues. In addition, he wants to make changes to the investigation branch because if the investigation department is weak, cases won't be pursued well, which will help criminals.

Karachi police chief Yaqoob Minhas removed abruptly, replaced with predecessor

Karachi police chief Yaqoob Minhas removed abruptly, replaced with predecessor
The Sindh government on Friday abruptly removed the Karachi police chief, Additional Inspector General Imran Yaqoob Minhas, after only nine months on the post and replaced him with Ghulam Nabi Memon.

The change comes amid growing complaints of a rise in street crime in the metropolitan city from all segments of society, which have also called out the security administration for its failure to curb such incidents.

However, Memon's appointment as Karachi police chief came as a surprise to many as he was transferred from the same office in May 2021 and given charge of Special Branch, Sindh — a post that was previously held by Minhas.

A host of new challenges await the new police chief, including a growing number of street crimes, questions regarding the performance of the force in the port city and allegations of protecting high-profile suspects such as those in the Nazim Jokhio murder and Dua Mangi kidnapping cases.

In the notification, Sindh Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah said: "Ghulam Nabi Memon, an officer of Police Service of Pakistan (BS-21), additional inspector general of police, Special Branch, Sindh, is transferred and posted with immediate effect and until further orders as additional inspector general of police, Karachi range vice Imran Yaqoob Minhas, transferred.”

The notification added that Minhas, an officer of Police Service of Pakistan (BS-21), had been transferred and posted as the additional inspector general of police at the Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

In addition, Allah Bux alias Javed Akhtar Odho, an officer of Police Service of Pakistan (BS-21), was appointed the additional inspector general of police, Special Branch, Sindh, in place of Memon.

Memon was appointed the Karachi police chief for the first time in July 2019. He was transferred as the federal government had requisitioned his services.

The Establishment Division, in a letter to the Sindh government, had contended that as per the new policy, the transfer of an officer was required if he or she had served in a province continuously for 10 years.

However, the Sindh government had shown reluctance to hand over the services of Memon to the federal government and appointed him as the chief of Special Branch.

Meanwhile, a source at chief minister’s house said he believed that it was a "routine administrative change".

Imran Khan distributed appreciation certificates among his 'chamchas': BIlawal

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari
Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Imran Khan for lauding his ministers, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said that the premier distributed certificates among 10 of his chamchas (lackeys).

Addressing a PPP workers' convention in Multan, the PPP chairman said that the party’s central executive committee (CEC) has announced a “war” against the incumbent government.

“In this war, people are our soldiers, and we have to fight this war together. We have to make arrangements to end this puppet regime,” said Bilawal.

The PPP chairman claimed that farmers in the country were getting “murdered”, adding that his party always stands with the masses.

“The protest movement has to enter a new stage. If inflation, unemployment and poverty are here today so how can we wait till tomorrow?” said Bilawal. He added that February 27, the launch of PPP’s long march, is approaching fast and assured his supporters that the party will leave for Islamabad on the announced date.

“We will reach Islamabad via GT Road and hold the prime minister accountable,” said Bilawal. I am leaving to change the fate and save the country, he added.

Continuing his tirade against the incumbent government, Bilawal said that “destruction” was happening in the country in the name of change. There is nothing happening, apart from shouting about the previous government’s corruption, he added.

The PPP chairman went on to allege that the premier committed history’s biggest corruption. He added that the premier used to call him and his rival’s thieves and would not leave them alone.

“In my opinion, Imran Khan has left everyone. We did not even run away anywhere. Zardari is in Pakistan despite his illness. If you can catch him then come. We will be exonerated from the allegations you have levelled against us,” said Bilawal.

The PPP chairman further claimed that whoever levelled allegations against the PPP were instead convicted themselves.

“Whatever fake allegations levelled against Benazir Bhutto were not proven. Musharaf couldn't prove anything against us and now a new one [premier] is here, calling us thieves but he will also [see the same fate],” said Bilawal.

While attacking Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who hails from Multan, Bilawal said that the premier did not even give him a certificate.

“This is injustice against Multan. If China’s visit was successful then where is the certificate,” said Bilawal, adding that PM Imran distributed certificates to his 10 “lackeys”.

“Mr Khan does not trust his other cabinet members,” said Bilawal.

Chasing a 183-run target, the Zalmi never looked comfortable as both Kamran Akmal and Liam Livingstone were sent back to the pavilion in the first six overs.

Both Sultans and Zalmi were playing their second fixtures against each other today.

Sultans continued to strike on regular intervals as the Zalmi were clueless in crafting the run-chase. Soon afterwards, the Wahab Riaz-led team looked in sheer turmoil.

Experienced all-rounder Shoaib Malik played a good knock of 44 runs and remained the highest scorer for his team. Malik tried to bring Zalmi closer to the target by smashing some boundaries, but the task for him was humongous against a brilliant Sultans attack that restricted the Zalmi to 140 at the loss of 10 wickets.

In terms of bowling, Khushdil Shah and Blessing Muzarabani were once against the stand-out bowlers for their team as they took three wickets each, while Shahnawaz Dahani dismissed two batters.

Abbas Afridi and Imran Tahir picked one wicket each.

Sultan's innings

The in-from Sultans were invited to bat first by Zalmi skipper Wahab Riaz and they handed a 183-run target.

Sultans posted the total courtesy of Shan Masood’s terrific 68 runs and Tim David's sensational 34 runs off 18 balls. Their openers Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan provided them with a 98-run opening stand.

Rizwan scored 34 runs, as he didn't look in the flow today, but Masood continued his rich form by playing a 68-run inning of 49 balls with the help of eight fours and one six which provided a solid foundation for other batters to launch an onslaught against the Zalmi bowlers in the late overs.

For Zalmi, experienced all-rounder Shoaib Malik was economical as he conceded only nine runs in two overs.

Salman Irshad, Wahab Riaz and Saqib Mahmood took two wickets each, but they were also smashed badly.

Mohammad Rizwan-led Sultans have beaten all the other teams — Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, and Islamabad United — in the PSL 2022.
